National Hurricane Preparedness Week Sunday 5/5 - Saturday 5/11
National Hurricane Preparedness Week began yesterday, Sunday 5/5, and continues through Saturday 5/11. This is an annual campaign led by NOAA promoting daily themes on hurricane safety, preparation, and how you can properly plan for any tropical threat presented this upcoming season. Each day has a theme to help everyone prepare and stay safe during hurricane season:
- May 5, 2024 — Know Your Risk: Wind & Water
- May 6, 2024 — Prepare Before Hurricane Season
- May 7, 2024 — Understand Forecast Information
- May 8, 2024 — Get Moving When a Storm Threatens
- May 9, 2024 — Stay Protected During Storms
- May 10, 2024 — Use Caution After Storms
- May 11, 2024 —Take Action Today

NOAA will issue their seasonal outlook later this month. The National Hurricane Center will officially begin seasonal outlooks on May 15th or prior to if conditions are warranted. Now is the time to plan ahead for what is projected to be an extremely active tropical season. Have a great day.
