Parks and Recreation is responsible for land owned, leased, or maintained by the city which has been designated as a city park or recreation center by the city council. This department is essential in promoting health and wellness, driving economic opportunities, and strengthening communities.

Parks and Recreation maintains several parks including Aline McWhite Playground, Donaldson Park, Durrah Martin Complex, Head Field Complex, Lake Tulane Park, Lucy Derkman Softball Complex, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Field, Shuffleboard Senior Activities Club, and the tennis courts at Donaldson Park. Upon city council approval, this department partners with several community organizations for events and programs within the city.

When is a Special Event Permit required?

Special Event Permits are required to be submitted at least three months in advance of the event to allow for staff preparation and presentation to the City's Council.

Can I have a party at the park?

Of course! To ensure the pavilions are available, please call (863) 452-4433. Each pavilion has a rental fee of $25.
