City Council

The City of Avon Park operates under the City Council/City Manager form of government. Policy-making and legislative authority are vested in a City Council consisting of a mayor, a deputy mayor and three City Council members. The City Council is responsible for establishing policy, passing ordinances and resolutions, adopting the budget, appointing committees and other duties. The City Council is elected on a nonpartisan basis, and members serve four-year staggered terms. The mayor is elected to serve a three-year term. 

The City Council meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month* in the City Council Chambers, 123 E. Pine Street.

The City Council also serves as the CRA Board. The CRA Board meets regularly every 4th Monday of the month* at 5:30 p.m. or soon after in the Council Chambers, 123 E. Pine Street.
